The present state of the U.S. economy has been very troubling for the past few years not only to politicians and lawmakers but to ordinary citizens as well. Unemployment levels are at a record high that is now standing at 9.6%. With the continuous failure of the Obama administration to stimulate economic growth and create jobs for the millions of individuals who are currently unemployed, people began feeling weary, discontented and frustrated. And the GOP has been seeing this as an opportunity to finally regain power in the U.S. Congress most especially in the Senate.
The GOP firmly believes that most Democrats who supported Obama during his campaign period will eventually shift sides this time and favor Republican candidates as the President and the Democratic-dominated Congress is unable to save the nation from the recession. But a recent poll by AP-GfK showed that 59 percent of respondents disapproved of the way Democrats in Congress are handling the economy while 64 percent also said that same about Republicans. This is a clear indication that voters are displeased with both political parties.
Millions of voters now have shifted their support and become involved with the Tea Party Movement for the reason that it gives them opportunities to have their voices heard. It is worth remembering how Democrats used to put down and ultimately ignored concerned citizens in public forums. This is the very reason why Democrats of today are constantly attacking Tea Party people with attack ads and other propagandas. The GOP and Republicans also don’t like the party for the very reason that the party contradicts to their very principles and may prove to be hindrance in achieving their goals.
Despite of their non-approval to the party, Republicans are generally benefiting from the efforts of the Tea Party. A recent poll showed that 54 percent said that they hated Democrats for this coming election while 40 percent of respondents said the same was true for Republicans. In terms of voter turnout, 49 percent are now backing Republican congressional candidates and are expected to vote these elections while only 39 percent was rooting for Democrats. Another poll conducted by Rasmussen last week indicated 52 percent of voters saying their views were closely relevant to Tea Party figure Sarah Palin as opposed to President Obama’s views.
The recent victory by Tea Party-backed candidates during Republican primaries is just a taste of what’s to come. The Tea Party Movement is slowly showing its true strength and is ready to make upsets this November. Despite of the massive publicity and popularity that the party today is gaining, they will still be battling against rich and powerful Democrats who are going to spend tons of money for their campaigns. Regardless of the outcome, the Tea Party will eventually influence U.S. politics today and with the years to come.

Fixing America’s Transportation Infrastructure
The transportation and infrastructure sector is one of the most important sectors of society as it connects places and makes trade and commerce more effective. An airport for example significantly reduces the time it takes for goods to be transported to other places. It also opens up tourism which also translates to money. A high-speed freight rail is also equally important as it delivers large quantities of goods and stimulates effective trading among business entities. In the U.S., the infrastructure sector is struggling with the lack of funding and support from the government.
For the past couple of years, America has not conducted any significant research which will stimulate developments in the nation’s infrastructure. America’s transportation infrastructure is rotting and the government keeps on ignoring it. Amazingly, President Obama recently announced a plan to allocate $50 billion to a stimulus fund which will focus on U.S. infrastructure development. The act comes where the nation’s unemployment levels are at a record high. Currently, the nation’s unemployment rate stood at 9.6% with a possibility to increase further if the government doesn’t do anything to stop it.
The economic recession has made people more paranoid about jobs. With thousands of people in danger of being axed from their jobs every week, it is no doubt that jobs are the talk of the town. And since Obama strongly believes that job creation is every important in stimulating economic growth, he gladly saw the relevance of the construction industry as a means to generate more jobs. The additional funds will most likely rebuild and improve the transportation infrastructure of the U.S. to be able to catch up with other foreign competitors.
Investments in high-speed rail and next-generation air traffic control will benefit the economy in the long run. These are considered smart investments which will help promote productivity and sustainability. The act will benefit not only the people who will be getting their jobs back but also the whole nation who will be taking advantage of the much improved infrastructure. At a time where jobs are scarce, it is certainly helpful to invest in things that will address the very problem of unemployment instead of wasting useless money for defense.
Despite of the good intentions of Pres. Obama, various politicians have strongly opposed the act stating that it is not enough or that it will only add up to the already huge budget deficit that the nation is currently facing. Add also the fact that the November midterm elections are fast approaching and Obama is likely trying to win back the support of the voting sector in order to preserve the Democratic influence in Congress. Regardless of the real intention, the result of this act will only be likable if there is enough political will and if the administration is really concerned about the economy.

More Americans Now Believe that Obama is Indeed a Muslim
Before his presidency, Barack Obama was a democratic Senator of the state of Illinois. Having graduated at Harvard University law school with Juris Doctor (J.D.) magna cum laude honors, he was then perceived as an intelligent and skillful man. On February 10, 2007, Obama announced his bid for presidency. During his campaign, his platforms with regards to ending the war in Iraq, improving and increasing energy efficiency and creating a universal health care program caught the attention of a lot of people. Obama would then win the presidential race being the first African-American to take the highest position in office in America.
During the early days of his presidency, there was renewed hope felt by millions of citizens especially that the nation has been plagued by a lot of social, political and economical problems left by the previous administration. Because of him being considerably black, there were also high hopes in the restoration of freedom and justice regardless of race. But after almost 2 years in office, it seems that the voting population has been steadily losing trust and patience with Obama.
His inability to resolve the rising death tolls in both wars (Afghanistan and Iraq) have drawn many criticisms from several politicians, lawmakers and citizens. Also, the controversial health care reform bill has also received negative reviews stating that it is unreasonable and will only negate the freedom enjoyed by millions of Americans. Another big issue is his capability to find a solution to the present economic crisis that has left 12% of the population without a job. The increasing budget deficit is also a huge concern limiting government funding on basic social services and also erasing thousands of federal jobs.
But perhaps the most controversial issue that the President has faced is with regards to his comments on the proposed Mosque to be constructed two blocks away from Ground Zero. Because of that incident, more people have developed doubts about the real religion of Obama. A recent poll indicated that 1 in every 5 Americans believed that Obama is a Muslim. Even before his comments on the proposed Mosque, there is already a continued rise on the belief that he is indeed a Muslim.
Various democrats label this as a politically-charged action ahead of the Congressional elections. They also argued that some of the disagreements that pertain to Obama’s religion were linked to discontent of his performance. Whatever the real score is, the degree of distrust to the president is really increasing. I can fully say that this has also something to do with the lack of transparency that the present administration has. If indeed Pres. Obama is really a Christian, then the government should have nothing to hide and show the actual proof to the people. With lack of confidence and trust, the nation will never achieve national unity.
