US Taxpayers Are Also Paying for the First Lady

President Obama’s rise to power was a very inspiring story. I still could remember the time when Pres. Obama was still giving a campaign speech to thousands of people. He was a very charismatic man and he really caught the hearts of millions of Americans all over the nation. But as the saying goes, “For every success of a man comes a woman beside him”. Yes. I am talking about the first lady the United States of America, Mrs. Michelle Obama.

Mrs. Obama was actively campaigning and helping her husband during the election campaign period. Her charms may also be one of the many reasons why Pres. Obama won decisively over his rival Republican John McCain. Today, many have criticized the first lady for fielding a full force of staff which of course adds to the government’s expenses. Mrs. Obama currently has 22 members of her staff which cost the taxpayers $1.5million a year.

According to the US constitution, the first lady of the US is never elected, does not have constitutional duties and will never receive salary compensation. But as far as we know it, she has been receiving a whole bunch of benefits such as having a personal assistant, a chief of staff, some members of the secret service and some other travel expenses.

One controversial event was during her Paris trip where she reportedly went on a shopping spree. It was also a fact that the shops in Paris were forced to open on a Sunday so as to accommodate the Obamas. What caught the eyes of the people are the 20 secret service vehicles she brought along with. Those vehicles were supposedly funded by taxpayers. And not to mention the other expenses she incurred in that trip which was not declared by the White House.

President Obama used to campaign for a transparent and democratic government. Sad to say, they haven’t been living to their promises. Instead of spending money for their own luxuries, why don’t they instead create bills and projects that would benefit the American people? We can clearly see that a lot of people are upset and unsatisfied with the way the country is moving. The economy is crumbing and more people are suffering. If only Pres. Obama would start remembering and realizing his promises, then if would have been a better and more ideal scenario. The seat of the US Presidency is never a spot for royalty and luxury but instead a place for dedicated service to the American people.

President Obama may be Leading America to Uncertainty

The US is really experience a dark and trying time. Wall Street, which is touted as the most powerful and most influential financial district in the world, has suddenly collapsed. More business firms and corporations are facing enormous debts and some have already declared bankruptcy. The American people are the ones who are suffering the most. Every day, there are more workers who are being removed from their jobs. People are losing their source of living and are also losing the basic services they usually get from the government. Taxes are so high that most people are not anymore capable of getting their health premiums. It may seem that what the Obama Administration is doing is not really working.

The policies that the Obama Administration has presented might seem very attractive. But the real truth is, the nation is just slowly getting drowned by too much budget deficit. Some analysts across the globe think that Obama may have only worsened the situation. For one, Pres. Obama proposed to increase massive spending and create a financial bailout fund for banks. Because of this, the national debt has increased dramatically. Did you know that the national debt of the American nation is beyond $13 trillion? And it is continuously increasing because of the policies that was devised and implemented by the president. What will happen to the American people if the national debt will reach $50 trillion? That will be mean total disaster for the nation.

Before Obama became president, he was a charismatic public figure bringing with him the promises of peace, prosperity and freedom. It was very favored by most Americans as it would further improve their lives. Now that he has the seat of power, things seem to change. He even told the nation that the US can only manage to sustain 2 percent of their oil needs. It was conceived as a lie because as far as experts are concerned, the US has plenty of oil reserves even surpassing that of the Middle East. If we begin to drill these reserves now, we can create more jobs and eventually lessen the prices of Gasoline.

We should all realize that Obama needs a really good adviser. He may be leading America into the Dark Age. We don’t and we never need to spend so much of our budget. What we need is to spend on more important things such as work benefits, education and health. We don’t need to waste so much of our money on national defense when the idea of a full scale war is very inevitable.
