How long will America Be on the Losing Track?

With the fall of Wall Street, the closure of various high-value businesses, the continuously increasing number of unemployed persons, the sudden closure of many mortgages, the controversial war in Afghanistan, the recent oil spill: it is no doubt that America is suffering and needs a makeover very badly. Americans are deeply depressed about the present status of the nation most especially how poorly the economy is performing.

Today, about 17% of Americans are unemployed or are living below the ideal monthly income. Clearly, the present economy is bust and has caused massive outcry for improvement. Everyone looks up to Pres. Obama so solve these issues and make things better again. If we really analyze it, the problem really originated from past presidents and was handed on to the present. As what former president Bill Clinton said during an interview, "The American people hire you [the President] to win for them... Until people feel better about their own lives, they're not going to feel good about their president.”

It is a given fact that the present Obama administration has inherited various issues and problems from the previous Bush administration such as a weak and crumbling economy, imbalanced distribution of wealth, poorly-decided and ill-conceived military undertakings such as the ongoing Iraq and Afghan war which has always been thought to be unwinnable, and a Federal bureaucracy that keeps departments from performing to their optimum potential.

Over the past centuries, the economy has been centered unto the wealthy and authentic rich individuals. As a result, many American settled for debts in order to maintain a stable lifestyle. Because of this, the long term effects have surfaced and have ravaged even the wealthiest corporations. For every huge institution that falters, more Americans will lose their jobs and lose their source of living. Without effective and reasonable decisions, the economy will just continue to shrink and eventually drown.

It has been 18 months since we saw a black presidential candidate who carried with him the promise of a better and brighter America. Pres. Obama was then seen as a person with great charisma who always campaigned for change and development. But where is the change and transformation that was thought to be implemented 18 months ago? Everyone is looking at Pres. Obama to take into deeper consideration their issues and bring them them to the promise of the American Dream.

The nation is desperately in need of a massive repair. America is indeed on the losing track and will continue without the existence of that primary mover for change. Let us just hope that one day, the change that was promised months ago by the charismatic black presidentiable will be implemented with full transparency and determination. It may take a long while before we achieved what we dream of, but as long as America gets back on track now, our future will at least be certainly ideal.
